LEROY, AL — Washington County has reported a 95% increase in tax revenue, reflecting broader economic growth.
The increase is attributed to industrial expansion in the McIntosh chemical corridor and PowerSouth Energy Center in Leroy.
Additional revenue will help fund infrastructure improvements and public safety enhancements.

Washington County's GDP grew by nearly 13% in 2024, making it the fastest-growing economy in Alabama.
Officials cautioned that the tax base remains dependent on a small number of large industrial employers.
The Commission is expected to discuss the revenue figures at its next regular meeting.
