FRUITDALE, AL — A Washington County school bus was involved in a minor traffic accident on Highway 56 near Millry on Monday morning.
According to ALEA, the bus was struck from behind by a minivan at a stop. The bus had approximately 2 students aboard at the time.
No serious injuries were reported, though several students were evaluated by EMS at the scene as a precautionary measure.
Parents were notified and arrangements were made for an alternate bus to transport students to their schools.
The driver of the other vehicle was cited for following too closely. The investigation is ongoing.
Washington County School District officials emphasized the importance of drivers maintaining safe following distances behind school buses.
