Truck Driver Arrested for DUI After hazmat tanker ... (File photo)

SATSUMA, AL A truck driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a hazmat tanker crash on State Route 69 near Satsuma on Sunday.

The arrest came after Mobile County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash shortly after 8:00 a.m. on State Route 69 near the old sawmill site. The hazmat tanker struck a utility pole.

The driver, a 54-year-old Kentucky woman, was found to be impaired at the scene, according to Mobile County Sheriff's Office. Field sobriety tests were administered and the driver was taken into custody.

The hazmat tanker was carrying refrigerated goods.

Tibbie Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. State Route 69 was affected for several hours.

The driver was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of DUI and reckless driving. Bond information was not immediately available.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration prohibits commercial vehicle operators from driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.04% or higher, half the legal limit for passenger vehicle drivers.
