FRUITDALE, AL — A severe thunderstorm swept through northern Washington County on Saturday evening, damaging several homes and agricultural structures.
The National Weather Service confirmed straight-line winds of up to 70 mph were responsible for the damage in the Carson area.
Multiple barns and outbuildings were destroyed, and several homes sustained roof damage from falling trees.
Washington County Emergency Management crews conducted damage assessments beginning early the following morning.
No injuries were reported, though several families were temporarily displaced until structural assessments could be completed.
