CALVERT, AL — A double trailer rig was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on County Road 90 near Calvert approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Choctaw County Sheriff's Office reports 6 vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction crash on County Road 90 approximately 3 miles south of Chatom. The incident began when the double trailer rig failed to slow for traffic.

scattered thunderstorms and defective steering are believed to be contributing factors. The crash created a debris field spanning approximately 197 yards.

1 people were transported to Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville with serious but non-fatal injuries. No fatalities were reported.

Millry Volunteer Fire Department responded with multiple units. EMS crews from across the county were called to assist with the response.

County Road 90 was closed in both directions for more than 4 hours. ALDOT set up detour routes through State Route 56 and County Road 22.

The crash is under investigation by Choctaw County Sheriff's Office. Witnesses are asked to contact the agency's Highway Patrol Division.
