GROVE HILL, AL — A car carrier was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on County Road 46 near Grove Hill just before noon on Tuesday.
Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) reports 7 vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction crash on County Road 46 near the intersection with County Road 34. The incident began when the car carrier jackknifed in traffic.
nighttime darkness and mechanical failure are believed to be contributing factors. The crash created a debris field spanning approximately 297 yards.
1 people were transported to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 1 fatality was confirmed at the scene.
Millry Volunteer Fire Department responded with multiple units. EMS crews from across the county were called to assist with the response.
County Road 46 was closed in both directions for approximately 3 hours. ALDOT set up detour routes through County Road 34 and State Route 17.
The crash is under investigation by Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). Witnesses are asked to contact the agency's Highway Patrol Division.
