ST. STEPHENS, AL A logging truck overturns on County Road 90 near St. Stephens shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, injuring 3 people.

Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident on County Road 90 at the blind curve on County Road 22. The logging truck, loaded with freshly cut lumber, jackknifed while braking, blocking the entire highway.

The narrow two-lane road with no shoulders is frequently used by logging operations in the area. overloaded cargo is being investigated as a contributing factor.

The driver, a 52-year-old South Carolina man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. Two additional vehicles sustained minor damage while avoiding the crash scene.

Logs were scattered across the roadway, creating a significant hazard for other motorists. Tibbie Volunteer Fire Department and a logging company crew worked to clear the debris.

County Road 90 was closed for more than 4 hours. Washington County Sheriff's Office reminded drivers to exercise caution around logging trucks on rural Washington County roads.

The timber industry is a major economic driver in Washington County, and logging trucks are a common sight on local roads. Safety advocates have long called for wider shoulders and improved signage on heavily used timber routes.
