LEROY, AL — A residential fire in Chatom displaced a family of 1 after flames engulfed their home early Thursday morning.

Washington County volunteer firefighters responded to the blaze around 7:15 a.m. and found the structure fully involved upon arrival.

All occupants evacuated safely. No injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Washington County Fire Marshal's Office.

The American Red Cross of Alabama has been contacted to provide emergency assistance to the displaced family.
