MILLRY, AL — Fruitdale volunteers gathered for the community's annual highway cleanup day along several miles of roadway.

Approximately 191 volunteers of all ages participated, covering U.S. Highway 45 and several county roads.

Organizers said the cleanup maintains the natural beauty of Washington County and demonstrates community pride.

Volunteers collected over 20 bags of litter including bottles, fast food packaging, and other debris.

The event was organized in cooperation with ALDOT's Adopt-A-Highway program.

Following the cleanup, volunteers gathered for a cookout and fellowship.
