MILLRY, AL — Fruitdale Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary with a community open house that drew current and former students, staff, and supporters.
The event featured tours of the campus, a historical photo display, and remarks from former principals and long-serving teachers.
Attendees shared memories of their time at Fruitdale Elementary, which has served as a cornerstone of the community since 2026.
Current students performed musical selections and read essays about what their school means to them.
The celebration also included a time capsule ceremony, with items to be opened at the school's 75th anniversary.
Fruitdale Elementary serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade in the southwestern portion of Washington County.
