LEROY, AL — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has launched an investigation following a double trailer rig crash on County Road 96 near Leroy.
The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday when the double trailer rig failed to yield at an intersection on County Road 96 at the bridge over Bilbo Creek.
Choctaw County Sheriff's Office responded and noted potential safety violations during the on-scene investigation. FMCSA was subsequently notified.
Federal investigators will review the trucking company's safety record, driver qualification files, and vehicle maintenance history. The driver's ELD data will be analyzed for potential hours-of-service violations.
The driver, a 37-year-old Missouri man, was not injured.
The truck was carrying industrial chemicals. Wagarville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
Under federal law, trucking companies can face significant fines and operational restrictions if safety violations are found. The investigation is expected to take several weeks.
