SILAS, AL Investigators suspect driver fatigue caused a fuel tanker to crash on County Road 66 near the intersection with County Road 34 on Wednesday.

The crash occurred approximately 9:45 a.m.. Choctaw County Sheriff's Office reports the fuel tanker failed to navigate a curve on County Road 66. The driver, a 48-year-old Florida woman, reportedly told investigators he had been driving for an extended period.

A review of the driver's electronic logging device (ELD) records revealed potential hours-of-service violations. Federal regulations limit commercial truck drivers to 11 hours of driving within a 14-hour window after 10 consecutive hours off duty.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. high winds at the time.

The driver was transported to Springhill Medical Center in Mobile with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck was carrying livestock feed.

Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department and EMS from Springhill Medical Center in Mobile responded. County Road 66 was affected for approximately 3 hours.

FMCSA records will be reviewed as part of the investigation. The trucking company may face additional regulatory scrutiny if violations are confirmed.
