MT. VERNON, AL — A cement mixer rear-ended a Ford F-150 at the intersection of County Road 85 and County Road 78 near Mt. Vernon on Friday.

The crash occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. when the cement mixer failed to stop at the intersection. Washington County Sheriff's Office reports the Ford F-150 was stopped at a stop sign when it was struck from behind.

The impact pushed the Ford F-150 into the intersection. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The truck driver, a 28-year-old Florida man, told investigators tire blowout may have been a factor. scattered thunderstorms were noted at the time.

Wagarville Volunteer Fire Department and EMS personnel from Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville responded to the scene. County Road 85 was partially blocked for more than 10 hours.

Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
