CHATOM, AL — The annual Tombigbee River cleanup drew 46 volunteers who removed trash and debris from the riverbanks.

Participants used canoes, kayaks, and flat-bottom boats to access remote areas.

The cleanup is organized by environmental groups, government agencies, and community volunteers.

Organizers collected over 67 tons of debris including appliances, tires, and plastic containers.

The Tombigbee River is a vital natural resource supporting recreation and wildlife habitat.
